Holland Report

Since the last post, I’ve already made my way into The Netherlands after an expensive 7 days in Paris. The 3 hour long train trip into Rotterdam started from Paris passing through Belgium witnessing the beauty of natural landscape and European countryside. After a couple of intercity train transfers, I finally made it to my cousin’s place in Zoetermeer, a town in between Den Haag and Rotterdam in south of The Netherlands.

Cycling is the way of life here in The Netherlands with cycling paths and segregated cycling facilities that stretched across the country. They have cycling prioriy law which means if you’re riding, you’re king. Moving vehicles and pedestrians have to stop or give way to cyclists and of course your precious bikes are allowed on trains & ferries.

I didn’t get to see any fixies on the street while I was there since it was winter though they have huge communities in every cities in The Netherlands. However I got to ride while I was in Zoetermeer along the beautiful countryside but it wasn’t all pretty in the cold with high speed wind biting into your face and your ears felt like they dropping off any moment. It was definitely one of the best experience riding in The Netherlands because of the safety issues and pretty views however bombers won’t find it much exciting as The Netherlands is known for its flat land with hardly any slopes/hills.

So this mark the end of my Euro trip leaving green sweet memories and back to reality and humidity. Thank you all for your time and see you guys on the next ride. Till then ride safe people!
