Bey vs Bangla

10Feb10

This photo was taken some 2 hours before I heard the news that Bey was knocked down by a lorry.
We had a quick sesh over at the East Coast Skate Park, had some sugar cane at the hawker center and left at around 11 PM.

As I was cycling down Orchard Road, I received a text from The KGB telling me about Bey’s accident.
Apparently Fariz was with him though the boy was ahead and did not realize that Bey had been knocked down.

Anyways, the Triple 6 seems to be okay and that’s all that matters right now.
Apart from a gash on his head, Bey sounded like his usual self.
Make a speedy recovery and we shall kick ass together on the streets like we always do.

On a side note, I showed the T.O.S video to some of the boys and they’re quite pleased with how it looked.
Ride safe guys!

Holland Report

30Jan10

Since the last post, I’ve already made my way into The Netherlands after an expensive 7 days in Paris. The 3 hour long train trip into Rotterdam started from Paris passing through Belgium witnessing the beauty of natural landscape and European countryside. After a couple of intercity train transfers, I finally made it to my cousin’s place in Zoetermeer, a town in between Den Haag and Rotterdam in south of The Netherlands.

Cycling is the way of life here in The Netherlands with cycling paths and segregated cycling facilities that stretched across the country. They have cycling prioriy law which means if you’re riding, you’re king. Moving vehicles and pedestrians have to stop or give way to cyclists and of course your precious bikes are allowed on trains & ferries.

I didn’t get to see any fixies on the street while I was there since it was winter though they have huge communities in every cities in The Netherlands. However I got to ride while I was in Zoetermeer along the beautiful countryside but it wasn’t all pretty in the cold with high speed wind biting into your face and your ears felt like they dropping off any moment. It was definitely one of the best experience riding in The Netherlands because of the safety issues and pretty views however bombers won’t find it much exciting as The Netherlands is known for its flat land with hardly any slopes/hills.

So this mark the end of my Euro trip leaving green sweet memories and back to reality and humidity. Thank you all for your time and see you guys on the next ride. Till then ride safe people!

The Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW

This is by no means a bike-specific bag nor is it catered towards the people from the cycling community.
But I personally feel that this is the best bag for people who love riding and shooting at the same time.

I bought this way back in 2008 and found it rather useless. Well, that’s before I started cycling.
When the cycling bug bit me, I was looking high and low for a bag that’s compact yet big enough for me to pack all the necessary gears. I bought countless bags. You name ‘em and I probably got ‘em.
Messenger bags, haversacks and even waist pouches.

I totally forgot about the SlingShot until I decided to use it a while ago and to my surprise, it was an amazingly great bag.
It is a camera bag so I don’t have to worry about fitting my gears and all.
What surprised me though was how comfortable it was. It has a third arm, just like every other messenger bag and the best part of all is the fact that it’s designed in such a way that it does not cover the majority of your back.
It’s so small and compact, I tend to forget that it’s even there.
Plus it’s big enough to fit an extra shirt or two. Wait, it’s actually big enough to fit a windbreaker, some shirts, a towel and a camera!

It makes me wonder though why this particular design has been overlooked by
big-ass bag manufacturers.
Maybe our local brands can have a look into this and come up with something similar to the SlingShot? *hint, hint Sup Clothing & PEONFX*

Here’s a shot of the SlingShot in action.

Ride safe guys!

Paris Report

21Jan10

Bonjour from Paris where the time is GMT+1 and temperature is below freezing point daily. I will be in Paris for a week getaway from reality while getting new inspirations for 2010  from what this city of lights got to offer.

The city of Paris is made up of  4 million people and they love bikes. Most of the people young and old rides and the government also offers bike sharing system with more than 20000 public bicycles for rent to commute in the city built with bicycle lanes. I came across a couple of fixed gear related bike stores and there are occassional fixie riders on the streets which most don’t communicate well in English but passion definitely transcend language barrier.

Me: “Kau p*%i t&$k muka busuk dah brape hari tak mandi”
French: “Ahh wee wee wee!”

Euros are definitely not the best thing to happen to you when you coming from a currency rate of half and not to mention average meal of 8 Euros per person doesn’t help. As much as I would love to get some new leather saddle and tight drop bar, I’ll lead a simple life and be contented with what I have -_-

Ah did I mention free wifi here sucks? Yes I’m trying to get this post up for the last 40 mins out in the cold with an old French woman with huge fur coat all over my face.

Au revoir from now and I’ll catch up with you fine people when I head up to the land-of-the-smoking dream Amsterdam next week. Till then ride safe my beloved people!

Firdaus

It’s been quite a while since I last posted anything here. Been kinda busy with work and stuff.
Anyways, Bey was saying that the site has been pretty quiet lately.
So here I am!

The boys have not been out riding much after the recent T.O.S.
Some are busy with school and work while others (by others, I mean The KGB) are on a European getaway.

I’ve been itching to go on a ride and shoot the boys like I always do.
I’ve been on a “hiatus” for way too long.

Anyways, here are some shots that I managed to capture on the few rides we’ve been on.

Nas

Bum

Minzi

Gab

The photos of Firdaus, Nas, Bum and Minzi I like, but Gab seriously needs to be kicked in the balls.
Instead of riding, the boy decides to play some rugby. I believe his bike has become some sort of furniture in his house or something. Heh!

Oh, let’s hit Thomson come Friday.
What do you guys think?
